VRF/VRV System Installation, Service & Repair
Hobbs Mechanical specializes in Mitsubishi, Samsung, LG and Daikin variable refrigerant flow systems for businesses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton and Newport News.
What Is a VRF/VRV System?
VRF (variable refrigerant flow), also called VRV (variable refrigerant volume), is a high-efficiency heating and cooling system. One outdoor unit connects to multiple indoor units, and each indoor unit controls its own zone. Instead of running at full blast and shutting off, the system adjusts how much refrigerant flows to each room based on what that space actually needs.
Heat recovery VRF systems can even heat some areas while cooling others at the same time, moving heat from where it isn’t wanted to where it is.
Why Businesses Choose VRF
Lower Energy Costs
Variable-speed compressors run only as hard as needed, so VRF systems typically use less energy than conventional systems that cycle on and off.
Zone-by-Zone Comfort
Every office, suite or room gets its own temperature control, so a sunny corner office and a server room can each get what they need.
Quiet Operation
Indoor units run quietly, which matters in offices, hotels, classrooms and medical spaces.
Flexible Installation
Small refrigerant lines replace bulky ductwork, which makes VRF a strong fit for renovations, older buildings and tight ceiling spaces.

VRF/VRV Questions
Is VRF the same as VRV?
Yes. VRV is Daikin’s name for the technology, while Mitsubishi, Samsung and LG call it VRF. Both describe systems that vary the refrigerant flow to each indoor unit, and we work on all of them.
Can VRF work in an existing building?
Often, yes. Because VRF uses small refrigerant lines instead of large ducts, it can be a good choice for retrofits and renovations. We’ll look at your building and tell you honestly whether it’s a fit.
How often should a VRF system be serviced?
Regular preventive maintenance keeps a VRF system running efficiently and helps catch small problems before they become expensive repairs. Ask us about a maintenance plan that fits your building.
Which brands do you work on?
We are a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor and an authorized Samsung dealer for installation, service and repair, and we also install and service LG and Daikin VRF/VRV systems.
